Setting Up Laundry Appliances.
For best efficiency, install your washer dryer to minimize the distance and effort of carrying a wet load of laundry from the washer to the dryer. Therefore the dryer door should open to the side where the washer is located.
If you're installing plumbing for a washer, you should carefully plan where your washer dryer are best located and arrange the plumbing accordingly.
Some dryer models have doors that can be reversed to open on the other side. This is generally an easy task; check your product manual for instructions. Newer high-efficiency front-load washers usually have doors which cannot be reversed.
A stacking washer dryer pair is usually installed with the washer on the bottom and dryer on top. For this set-up, you have to plan on the plumbing for the washer being in the same area as the electrical outlet and exterior venting for the dryer to ensure all connections can easily be made.
Laundry accessories such as folding centers, counters, sorters or ironing tools should also be placed where access and use is most convenient.
